REVISION
RESOURCES
Revision, retrieving knowledge and applying learning independently are vital tools in preparing for and succeeding in exams. Knowledge learned in the classroom must be revisited in order to move it to a student's long term memory. Based on our own student data we know that those students who revise by applying their learning perform better than those who don't - students who organise and plan their revision sessions perform better than those who don't.
The links below to the Education Endowment Foundation: Building study habits and revision routines Blog and the Memorize Academy: 6 Effective Methods for Study outline insights into productive and worthwhile revision methods which are researched based.
This year we have bought into the Carousel Learning Package which enables students to revise, practice and apply prior learning independently, as well as supporting teachers to set regular retrieval opportunities for students. Sitting alongside this is Seneca, another platform which means students can apply knowledge.
Throughout the year there will be plenty of in school revision opportunities ranging from in class strategies to additional sessions offered outside of lesson time and during holidays too. These opportunities are designed to top-up learning rather than fill gaps.
